A 940 square foot interior and exterior remodel to a rear unit of a duplex.
On-site parking was reorganized and existing building openings re-positioned giving separation and privacy between both units. Relocating the cars created a new entry courtyard and garden with a covered front porch. The front door was relocated, opening to a new entry foyer with improved storage. First floor living areas were reconfigured, improving function and circulation creating a new family room and kitchen with expansive openings connecting to the garden outside as well as a new powder room, laundry, and mudroom.
Enlarged openings bring an abundance of natural daylight and ventilation into the living spaces. The dark exterior color creates a neutral backdrop for new courtyard planting. Inside pops of color and wallpaper add whimsy and fun to the simple spaces.
